Hi there, I’m Katherine 🙂 I own Something Blue. I love capturing weddings because, well I totally LOVE love…and photography.
Over the last decade I have been lucky enough to shoot over 300 weddings, mostly in the beautiful Hunter Valley and Newcastle, so feel free to ask me about the ins-and-outs of your venue because I know most of them like the back of my hand.
There’s a shot of me as a kid I love, and which sums up my obsession. It’s blurry but I’m standing there, in a bright blue tracksuit jacket, looking down at my first camera. I look a little confused! But I love it! Not many photos have been taken since where I’m not holding one.
Outside weddings, I shoot for charities, like the Wayside Chapel in King’s Cross, and as an artist my portraits have been frequently exhibited and featured in the Head On Photo Festival and Vivid, published in national and international magazines and won awards, including second place in the National Photographic Portrait Prize in 2015.
A life long passion: that’s what I bring to your special day. And I take on a limited amount of weddings each year, so I can give you all my energy, care and creativity. It’s once in a lifetime, you don’t deserve anything less.

Wedding Photography
Whilst every single wedding is different, some things never change… My couples love my storytelling style, share my distaste for all things posed, and relate best to authentic, timeless images that are not only beautiful, but unapologetically human.
A pre-wedding shoot is always included.
This is my chance to prove you wrong! I’ll show you that, despite what you’ve thought all this time, you actually look pretty damn great in photos! Plus you’ll realise that this whole photo taking business is actually quite fun. And that will help you relax on the big day!
A pre-wedding shoot is also important because I can spend time with you, get to know you, share ideas, and give you a taste of what you can expect on the big day, which makes the whole process less scary.
I supply the pre-wedding photos as high resolution image files within a week or two after your shoot via an online gallery in both colour as well as black and white.
Pre-wedding shoots are complimentary in all of the packages and are subject to availability at the time of booking. They take one hour at the most. Unfortunately the pre-wedding shoot cannot be redeemed for credit, or swapped for another product or service. Pre-wedding shoots can be booked between January and August in the Newcastle area (but please ask if you have some super special place you’d like to do your shoot).

Wedding Photography
Your relationship isn’t like anyone else’s, and your wedding photos shouldn’t be either. That’s why I like to get to know you before your wedding day and hear all about your story. That way I can capture this momentous chapter in a way that’s really really you.
I work in a fly-on-the-wall, candid, documentary style, and will never make you strike silly poses (well, maybe a few). I’m not into gimmicks and photo trends that will look dated by your first anniversary. Instead, I will work with you to create natural, authentic images that will stand the test of time.
I’ll help you plan, and collaborate with you, to make photography a part of your wedding day that you’ll really enjoy.
It’s hard to put an exact number on how many photos there will be of your day. Depending on the package you choose and what your wedding is like, you’ll receive between 400 and 600+ edited images. I create a little slideshow that will take you back to your wedding day an
While my main focus is to capture the feeling of the day, I will always try to capture every person at your wedding. I figure, if they were important enough to be invited, they’re important enough to be photographed. d make you feel all those emotions.
You’ll receive all your edited photos in colour as well as black and white. The photos are delivered via a private online gallery from where you can easily download all files as high resolution, print ready photos as well as low res versions. Your images will be available in the online gallery for 3 months but we have a gazillion backups of them just in case. Along with a little thank you gift, we also send you 10 6x4inch fine art prints of selected photos.
To lock your date in, a non-refundable deposit of $1000 is required along with a signed wedding photography agreement, the balance is due no sooner than one month prior to the wedding. If your wedding is more than 12 months away, the balance must be paid in two equal instalments 12 months prior and one month prior to your wedding date.

This package is commonly used for couples who want the ceremony covered, group photos with their family and friends and some amazing location photos. Perfect for low key weddings with a small number of guests or elopements too.

With this package, not a moment will go undocumented (don’t say I didn’t warn you). It’s perfect if you’re including a lot of special traditions or rituals on the day. And/or if you think your guests will party like crazy until you’re all kicked out.

Second photographers and additional hours
I mostly work alone but if you’re having a crazy big wedding or are planning a spectacular entrance and really want to capture the surprise on everyone’s faces, a second photographer could come in handy.
Second photographer $60 per hour.
You can book me for extra hours for $300 per hour.
Wedding Albums
Our packages all include high resolution edited image files that you can print to your heart’s content – but we believe a beautiful, high quality wedding album is an investment you will always treasure.
Your albums tell the story of a day filled with memories you can return to time and again. On anniversaries, or when relatives and friends visit, you will leaf through elegant pages and relive treasured moments, and who know? One day you might pass it down to your children and grandchildren, to become one of their most treasured possessions. That’s why we only work with the very best printers and book binders to create wedding albums that stand the test of time. We design the albums in house, dedicating ourselves to telling your story – and our easy to use online proofing system makes the process quick and stress free.
Wedding albums can be purchased any time after your wedding. If purchased within 3 months after your wedding, a 10% discount on the album price applies. Duplicates of albums also receive a 10% discount.
If you would like to purchase an album, a deposit of 50% of the full price is due before album design can begin. The balance must be paid before the album goes to print.
